02 The limit
25 characters is the real constraint
WhatsApp allows 25 characters in the profile name. That is the tightest name field of any mainstream social app — Instagram gives 30, Discord, which allows 32 and YouTube 100. A bracket or a heart spends one of them; a cursive or gothic letter is a two-unit character and can spend two, and the counter above uses the stricter count.

03 No handle
WhatsApp has no username to reject fancy text

Why a stylish WhatsApp name breaks
Boxes (☐) mean the reader's device has no glyph for that character. Cursive, gothic, outline and small caps render on virtually every phone sold since 2015. Rarer sets, especially squared letters, break more often on older Android devices.
